last night attended this gathering of my dad's schoolmates, childhood frens and scout-mates. (yes yes it's the same bunch and more that attended my 21st bday. if some of u recalled) hahahhah! it was the once in a blue moon gathering with heaps of good food, alcohol and an astonishing no of united nations you can find.

apparently all my dad's peers and juniors have developed the ah pek syndrome. that is, having an extremely pronounced belly regardless of whether it's excessive eating, drinking etc. and they all must definitely speak hokkien, and have an absolutely no holds barr attitude when it comes to food. where food is concerned, it's every man for himself.

which is why i found myself missing that box of ebi (raw jap prawns) within like 15 mins of me taking it out from the frezzer. i mean... there was a pile of prawns on the table defrosting, but they (all the uncles) took my share of it! (granted that my share was probably the lion's share of the whole lot ^_^) which is why i also found myself not having a single bite of the ebi. cos everything and i meant everything was gone in 60 secs loh.

tip: to survive a bbq gathering such as this, you must be a scavanger and thick skinned enough. remember, it's every man for himself - cos even if you wanna be polite you need to remember that there are like 13 ah pehs waiting for you to be gracious about food, and then they pounce on it.

food or the lack of it aside... the gathering was extremely enjoyable because i got to see pple whom i'm haven't met in like 10000 years. it's kinda weird that when these jie jies and kor kors see you, they don't see the 23 year old you but instead it's the 6, 7 year old you they are looking at. hahahha!! and they'll exclaim in that incredulous voice of theirs 'oh my! you've grown up liao!' - like DUH!





and suddenly your absence is felt so strongly....
gatherings such as these won't be the same....
missing you greatly...
